A Quiet Place for a Vacation
The Cole Cabin is located on a dead-end dirt road just below the Stratton Mountain ski area off of the Pikes Falls road.
This is a warm, friendly, cozy dwelling that some guests refer to as a hobbit house or boat-like.
It is built out of logs cut the old fashioned way, one by one in the woods and then transported to the site, where they are placed on top each other and chinked.
Private and quiet, the side of the Cabin that faces the pond has a patio for barbecuing and general outdoor relaxation. A Weber charcoal grill, picnic table with umbrella and Adirondeck style chairs are provided. It is a lovely spot for enjoying the day.
|Inside the Cabin
The Cabin is comfortably furnished with bedding, dishes, cutlery and utensils. Everything is provided. The one-person stand-up kitchen has a stainless steel sink, dishwasher, electric range, coffee maker, microwave, toaster and a refrigerator.
The log living room has a brick fireplace with an Avalon fireplace insert. Gas heat is available when needed. For dining, there is a locally made free form pine slab table.
Bathrooms: one in the master bedroom with a shower and a second split bathroom with a toilet in one room and across from it, an oversized shower room with a sink.
Sleeping areas or bedrooms on the first floor:
Upstairs is a play/get-away/storage space with an Alice-in-Wonderland style children’s play space.
|A Private Pond
The Cabin is a few steps from a spring-fed 3/4 acre private pond. The pond is a great place to hang out on a hot day and go for swim. A rowboat is provided. The grassy banks of the pond provide safe and easy entry into the water for young children and a screened gazebo graces the far shore. The pond is shared by the Cole House, but otherwise is private.
