A Quiet Spot for a VacationThis comfortable rustic four bedroom house is located at 1700 feet, high in the foothills of Stratton Mountain. A beautiful pond is but a couple of steps away from the house. Located on a dead-end dirt road, it is both quiet and convenient. The House is 1.5 miles from the Stratton Base lodge, a ski area in the winter. Tennis, golf, horseback riding and concerts held in their outdoor shell are summertime features. |

Spacious & ComfortableWarm and friendly, the house is comfortably furnished for easy housekeeping including, bedding, dishes, cutlery and utensils. Everything is provided except sheets, pillowcases and towels. The newly renovated eat-in kitchen is electric with a dishwasher, electric range, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee grinder and coffee maker. A deep well gives pure water. Hand-hewn beams, pine-paneled walls and a brick fireplace are living room features. Downstairs there are two bedrooms. Each has a double bed. There is also a split bath. There is a shower and sink in one room and a sink and a lavatory in another room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a double and a single bed. There is also a bathroom with a shower. In the basement is a washer and a dryer. Outside of the house is a Weber Grill for cooking steaks, corn, hamburgers and hot dogs. The house sits on a piece of property with two other vacation dwellings: the Rustic Cole Cabin and what we refer to as Jeremy, Sheila and Sam's Place. This third vacation dwelling was built in the early 70's and is attached to the house. It has its own driveway and entrance and is not rented. (not pictured) A Private PondThe three quarter acre pond offers refreshing swimming and trout fishing. It is both brook and spring fed. A rowboat is provided for fun. The grassy banks of the pond provide safe and easy entry into the water and are a great place to enjoy the sun on a hot day. A lovely screened gazebo graces the far shore. Beyond the pond is a brook, crossed by a sapling bridge that opens wild acres for exploring and hiking. The pond is shared by the cabin, but otherwise is private. Lots to Do NearbyIt is a pleasant hike on the Long Trail which runs through Stratton Mountain or to a waterfall at Pikes Falls and to a wilderness lake. Pikes Falls is a beautiful rocky place for diving, sun bathing or hiking as well as a cool dip. The water is very cold even in the late August. Within a few miles, up at the Stratton Inn or down in the valley are good eating places, country auctions, fairs, antiques and within a half an hour's drive, concerts and summer theater. Weston and Dorset, Vermont have first rate Summer Stock Theater. Manchester is outlet store heaven for the shoppers in your group. A Good Place to RelaxThere is FM radio and Satellite TV (DSS). All the networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and PBS as well as many cable and movie channels are available. Local stores rent movies you can play on the VCR. On your own phone, 802-874-4529, unlimited local calls may be made. You must charge long distance, in or out of state, to you credit card or home phone. Reasonable Rates$1050 a week plus Vermont Rooms Tax for rentals under 30 days. Monthly or seasonal rates are negotiable. A deposit of half your rent holds your reservation and is refundable up to 90 days before the start of your stay. Before arrival, the rental balance is due plus a refundable $100 damage deposit. Electricity, heat and firewood are included in the reasonable rates. Weeks usually start on a Saturday after 4 PM and end on the following Saturday at 10 am. Children and pets are welcome. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. The House may be
rented during the Ski Season as well .
