A Quiet Spot for a Vacation|
This comfortable rustic three bedroom house is located at 1700 feet, high in the foothills of Stratton Mountain.  Located on a dead-end dirt road, it is both quiet and convenient. A beautiful pond is a couple of steps away from the house. The House is 1.5 miles from the Stratton Base lodge, a ski area where, tennis, golf, horseback riding and concerts can be found in the summer and great skiing in the winter.

Reasonable Rates
$1500 a week or $250 a night with a three day minimum plus Vermont and Town Rooms Tax for rentals under 30 days in the summer. Monthly or seasonal rates are negotiable. A deposit of half your rent holds your reservation and is refundable up to 30 days before the start of your stay. Before arrival, the rental balance is due plus a refundable $100 per week damage deposit. Electricity, heat and firewood are included in the reasonable rates in the summer. Weeks usually start on a Saturday after 4 PM and end on the following Saturday at 10 am. Children and pets are welcome. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.

Ski Season
The cabin may be rented for the ski season (December-mid April). Families are given preference. Please visit my ski season page for more information.

 

Kitchen Livingroom Downstairs bedroom
The comfortable eat-in kitchen has a dishwasher, electric range, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee grinder and coffee maker. A deep well gives pure water.
The living room has hand-hewn beams, pine-paneled walls and a warm
and cozy brick fireplace with a propane fireplace insert.
Downstairs, there is one bedroom with a queen bed, as well asa split bath with a shower and sink in one room and a sink and a lavatory in another room. There is also a laundry room with a washer and a dryer on the first floor.

there is also a bathroom with a shower and a walk-in closet.
The private pond offers refreshing swimming and recreational fishing. A rowboat is provided for fun. A screened gazebo sits on the far shore..
No camping or tenting is permitted.

Spacious & Comfortable
Warm and friendly, the house is comfortably furnished for easy housekeeping including, bedding, dishes, cutlery and utensils. Everything is provided except sheets, pillowcases and towels.Outside of the house is a Weber Grill for cooking steaks, corn, hamburgers and hot dogs.

Lots to Do Nearby
From the cabin, it is a pleasant hike or a short drive to a waterfall at Pikes Falls, a beautiful rocky place for diving, sun bathing or hiking as well as a cool dip. The water is very cold even in the late August. Watch a video of Pikes Falls. On the backside of the property is Styles brook which runs down from Stratton Mountaiun. Within a few miles, up at the Stratton ski area or down in the valley, are good eating places, country auctions, fairs, antiques and within a half an hour's drive, concerts and summer theatre in Weston. Manchester is outlet store heaven for the shoppers in your group.For a good day hike, take the Long Trail or the Appalchian Trail, which winds its way through the back of Stratton Mountain to Stratton Pond. A number of State Parks are close by, including Jamaica State Park, which has its own falls called Hamilton Falls. You can put in a canoe or go fishing in the many streams and nearby lakes.

Authentic Vermont attractions within a short drive include farmers’markets in Brattleboro, Jamaica and Weston, Dutton's Farm Stands in Newfane and Manchester, the Brattleboro Food Coop, the Grafton Village Cheese Store on Route #30 in Brattleboro, artisanal cheese producers on the Vermont Cheese Trail and country stores in Jamaica (D & K’s Grocery) and Harmonyville (the Harmonyville Store). There are good places to eat including the Three Mountain Inn in Jamaica and The Perfect Wife and Bistro Henry in Manchester.

Cable Television is provided. Local stores rent movies you can play on the DVD player. On your own phone, unlimited local calls may be made. You must charge long distance, in or out of state to you credit card or home phone. If you have Verizon Wireless data device or phone service, you can use it here. AT&T has limited service at the house. Wireless High Speed Internet service is available.
