Cole House

A Quiet Spot for a Vacation

This comfortable rustic three bedroom house is located at 1700 feet, high in the foothills of Stratton Mountain.  Located on a dead-end dirt road, it is both quiet and convenient. A beautiful pond is a couple of steps away from the house. The House is 1.5 miles from the Stratton Base lodge, a ski area where, tennis, golf, horseback riding and concerts can be found in the summer and great skiing in the winter. Watch a video tour of the Cole House and pond.

Spacious & Comfortable

Warm and friendly, the house includes bedding, linens, towels, dishes, cutlery and utensils. Everything is provided including high speed wireless internet. Outside of the house is a 22″ Weber Kettle Grill for cooking steaks, corn, hamburgers and hot dogs along with a large round picnic table with an umbrella.

The Cole House does not have air conditioning, but is rather like an old fashioned summer place (though it is a year-round insulated house), and has fans, but no air conditioning, either local (window units) or whole house. The evenings in Vermont tend to drop down into the 50s or low 60s during the summer.

Bedrooms:
Downstairs – One bedroom  with a queen bed.  Upstairs – two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two double beds.

Bathrooms:
Downstairs – a tub with a shower and a sink in one room and a toilet and a sink in another room.
Upstairs – a bathroom with a shower.

The Cole House is half of a rambling two-family dwelling. The other half has its own entrance and driveway and is used by the owners when they are around. It is not rented out. During the summer months, when the owners are around, they stay up the road in another house.

A Private Pond
The House is a few steps from a spring-fed 3/4 acre private pond. The country pond is a great place to enjoy the sun on a hot day or go for an afternoon swim.  A rowboat is provided. The grassy banks of the pond provide safe and easy entry into the water for young children and a screened gazebo graces the far shore. The pond is shared by the Cole Cabin and the owners, but otherwise is private.

Lots to Do Nearby

From the House, it is a pleasant hike or a short drive to a waterfall at Pikes Falls, a beautiful rocky place for diving, sun bathing or hiking as well as a cool dip. The water is very cold even in the late August.  Watch a video of Pikes Falls. On the backside of the property is Styles brook which runs down from Stratton Mountain.  Watch a video about Styles Brook.
