Cole House

The Cole House in Summer

A well-located house to Ski Stratton. Taken for the ’24-’25 ski season.

Watch a video tour of the Cole House and pond.

This comfortable rustic three bedroom house is located at 1700 feet, high in the foothills of Stratton Mountain.  The House is 1.5 miles from the Stratton Base lodge, a ski area where, tennis, golf, horseback riding and concerts can be found in the summer and great skiing in the winter. Located on a dead-end dirt road, it is both quiet and convenient. A beautiful pond is a couple of steps away from the house.

Spacious & Comfortable
Warm and friendly, the house includes bedding, linens, towels, dishes, cutlery and utensils. Everything is provided including high speed wireless internet. Outside of the house during the warmer months is a Propane Grill for cooking outdoors, along with a large round picnic table with an umbrella.

The Cole House does not have air conditioning, but is rather like an old fashioned summer place (though it is a year-round insulated house), and has fans, but no air conditioning, either local (window units) or whole house. The evenings in Vermont tend to drop down into the 50s or low 60s during the summer. This is a rear-round fully insulated house: nice and warm during the winter.

The Cole House is half of a rambling two-family dwelling.

The Cole House is half a house (left portion)

The Cole House is half of a rambling two-family dwelling. The other half (on the right) has its own entrance and driveway (on the backside-not pictured) and is used by the owners when they are around. It is not rented out. During the summer months, when the owners are around, they stay up the road in another house.

A Private Pond

The House is a few steps from a spring-fed 3/4 acre private pond. The country pond is a great place to enjoy the sun on a hot day or go for an afternoon swim.  A rowboat is provided. The grassy banks of the pond provide safe and easy entry into the water for young children and a screened gazebo graces the far shore. The pond is shared by the Cole Cabin and the owners, but otherwise is private.

Lots to Do Nearby
From the House, it is a pleasant hike or a short drive to a waterfall at Pikes Falls, a beautiful rocky place for diving, sun bathing or hiking as well as a cool dip. The water is very cold even in the late August.
